I’m NOT kidding.
If you’ve stumbled upon this post, probably you were mindlessly surfing the net and your social media feed for something ‘new’.
If that is not true, in your case, this post isn’t for you.
Congratulations, you’re rare!
However, if that isn’t the case, and you happened to be doing the above, you need to take this seriously.
You are addicted to DOPAMINE.
And you are not alone.
The world today bombards our consciousness and tastebuds with ‘sensations’ throughout the day.
A vast majority of people go about their lives seeking fits of dopamine rush for almost all of their waking hours.
Bored and tired?
Check social media
Cravings and Lethargy?
Have something tasty.
Guess what… most of what you ‘feed’ on is addictive by design.
1. Gives you an instant ‘High’
2. That’ll eventually cause a ‘Crash’.
3. So you come back for ‘More’.
Once you’re in the cycle, you’re set to become insensitive to the simple pleasures of daily life.
Here’s how to escape the cycle:
*The Draw Down Mode*:
a. Restrict access to your phone for a select few times per day.
b. During the access, be mindful of what you consume.
c. Increase the protein-carbs ratio in your meals.
d. Any moment, if you are going for anything high in simple carbs, add something fibrous with it.
e. Have some water and short walks (without a phone :D) several times a day.
*The Detox Mode* (if you’re a little feisty):
a. Cut out social media and sugar (including refined carbs, and simple carbs) for a select number of days.
b. Fight it out with your determination and resilience to cravings and urges.
c. If the urge is unbearable, go talk to someone (reach out to an old friend you haven’t spoken to in years, that’s a good high).
Chances are you knew all this.
Or, maybe not.
Whether this is a reminder or a revelation, take a step to reverse it.
Act on it.
